December Pet of the Month: Cody

Cody is a 15 year old Collie mix who has been with his family since he was six months old. Even though he can no longer hear, and his eyesight is dimming, he still loves to be an active part of the household. His favorite spot is the largest and softest bed in the home, and not that he is older, he likes to sleep late. Congratulations to Cody, our December Pet of the Month!

November Pet of the Month: TOBY

November's Pet of the Month is Toby, the guinea pig. Toby was rescued from a pet store who could not sell him because of a medical condition that caused him to have a "twisted neck". He just didn't look normal to most people. But to his owner, he is the sweetest and most loving little two year old guinea pig. Toby loves his veggies and special times with his human mom. We are proud to honor Toby this November!

October Pet of the Month: Tiger Tyg

Who says animals don't have routines? Tiger Tyg is a wonderful two year old orange tabby who is now "king of the house" after his good dog friend Bingo passed away. Because they had been such good friends, Tiger went through a grieving period. That started the 'treat time after dinner' routine. Now, after Tiger eats his dinner of dry kibble, he races into the living room to get his 'treats' from his owner. What Tiger doesn't know is that the treats are really just more of his dry kibble, the same as his dinner. As with most food, it really is the presentation that matters. We are proud to highlight Tiger this October as our Pet of the Month!

Django and Avocados

Dr. Kate brings avocados into Brandt Veterinary Clinic from her tree for clients to take home. Django had quite the experience with the avocados on the lobby desk.
Hmmm, what's this?

I think I'll check it out!

What does it taste like?

No thanks - I think I'll stick to cat food.

July Pet of the Month: Marco Polo

We are proud to honor Marco Polo as our July Pet of the Month! Marco Polo is a 15 years old Siamese, known affectionately as the "Shrimp Crook". He is well-known for catching the scent of shrimp from anywhere in his spacious abode. When his mom entertains and there is shrimp on the menu, she has to constantly warn her guests of the active shrimp bandit. Marco Polo thinks nothing of helping himself to shrimp or shells either from a hand or the bowl directly. Marco Polo is our July Pet of the Month!

National Pet Preparedness Month: Hurricane Season

Are you prepared for your pet’s care in the event of an emergency? A pet emergency preparedness kit should include food, water, leash and collar, bowls, pet ID, medications, immunization records, pet carrier, first aid kit, and a contact list for all pet emergency contacts. Our clinic is located on higher ground than our neighbors and we DO accept pets in the event of an evacuation!

May Pet of the Month: Cocoa

I just love being on Facebook since my Mom sometimes thinks I have
been sneaking out to do modeling anyway. When she sees beautiful Himalayan's on TV
or in magazines; she is sure I have a secret career.

My favorite toys are shopping bags, boxes, and crackles toys......with catnip. ( I have to
confess..I do "nip" occasionally.)

I also enjoy ping pong ball soccer with mom. (I let her win sometimes. )
My dad is into trains. He puts ropes on boxes and
makes trains for me to ride in from room to room. He makes train sounds for me.
This amuses my humans; so I tolerate their silliness.

I enjoy the wild life......at least watching them. Squirrels run across my pool cage mornings
while I recline on my lounger. I also supervise two sand hill cranes that parade past and honk at me.
Mom met Dr. Monica and Dr. Kate at the community center a few years ago. I had
been very sick for a long time. Nobody could find my problem. They found out what was going on and
have taken very good care of me over the years.

Sometimes I have a spa day there....they give me a lion cut. Then everyone makes a fuss over me.
Sometimes I am a bit of a grump. I have been known to be unappreciative and take a bite at Dr. Kate or her assistants. They think I'm cute; and forgive my rudeness.

I appreciate that they have helped me to have many healthy, happy days with my family.
I am glad to have met all of them. Excuse me; but it's time for my catnap. Cocoa

Rocky the Squirrel Update

Remember Rocky the Squirrel? Rocky the baby squirrel was found by one of our pet parents, seemingly abandoned by his squirrel family. When Rocky turned the ripe old age of 3 months, he was released outside to a tree where he could still have access to Dr. Luna, his “mommy”. Immediately he started foraging for food but he would always return to “mommy” for whatever treats she is willing to give. Over time, this gets to be less and less, but even now, while he has adopted a squirrel family in the area, he still stops by “mommy” just to say hi”. Rocky is happy and enjoying life in the wild. He has found a home nearby familiar people, and is getting along with his new squirrel friends. He forages for his own food, although special treats are occasionally placed out for him.
